How to correct a wrong name on National University certificates, marksheets, registration and admit cards. Corrections cannot be made on the certificate directly: the registration and admit cards are corrected first.
General rules for name correction
- The certificate or marksheet cannot be corrected directly. You must first correct the registration card and the (final-year) admit card, in order.
- After the registration and admit cards are corrected, the certificate and marksheet can be corrected together.
- After all corrections, you must come to National University (the board) and apply separately for Online Data correction (result panel and student portal).
- If your SSC and HSC certificates have mistakes, correct those first.
- To correct a Masters certificate, you must first correct the Honours registration card.
- For a complete name change you need a magistrate affidavit.
Certificates and marksheets cannot be corrected until the registration and admit cards are corrected.

Application steps
- If your SSC or HSC certificate has a mistake, correct that first. SSC and HSC registration and admit cards do not need correction.
- Correct your bachelor (honours/degree) registration card.
- After you get the corrected registration card, apply to correct the admit card. Only the final-year admit card needs correction.
- Then apply together for correction of the provisional certificate and marksheet.
- If you took an academic transcript, apply to correct the transcript directly instead of the marksheet.
- After everything is corrected, come to NU (the board) and apply for Online Data Correction.
- (Optional) If you already took the original certificate and it has the error, apply to correct the original certificate after the steps above.

- NU name correction application form (one form for all documents)
- Registration card
- Admit card (final year)
- Provisional certificate and marksheet/transcript
- Corrected SSC and HSC certificates
- Magistrate affidavit if the full name is changing
Fee: ৳ 707 per document, ৳ 2828 in total for 4 · Time: 3-4 months for partial corrections, 4-6 months for adding or removing words or a complete change.

Please note
Do not apply for the original certificate or transcript until the provisional certificate is corrected, or the wrong name will appear on them too.

Is there a faster way without going to the board?
No. The steps must be followed in order. Submitting correct papers the first time saves time.
Can I correct the certificate or marksheet directly?
No. First correct the registration and admit cards, then the certificate and marksheet.
Do I have to correct admit cards of every year?
No, only the final-year admit card.
