The original certificate is the final certificate issued by National University. You apply online and collect it in person from the board in Gazipur. It is needed for higher studies abroad, jobs and many government and private applications.
What is the original certificate and when is it needed
The original certificate is the final certificate issued by National University. It is mainly needed when applying for higher studies or jobs abroad. Lately government and private employers in Bangladesh also ask for it, sometimes as a must.
Many students think the original and provisional certificates are the same, but they serve different purposes.

Application steps
- Fill in the application form and get your principal's signature and attestation.
- Scan the required documents as PDF, keeping each file under 2 MB.
- Create an account on the National University Student Portal.
- Log in and choose the original certificate application.
- Fill in the fields marked with a star (*) and upload the documents listed below.
- Pay the application fee through bKash, Nagad or similar.
- Wait 20-30 days. When the certificate is ready, the dashboard shows the status Signatured.
- Once it shows Signatured, collect the certificate from the NU main campus in Gazipur.

How long does the original certificate take?
Usually 20-30 days. Professional courses and old batches can take longer.
Can I apply without a provisional certificate?
No. You must hand in the original provisional certificate when collecting the original certificate, so get it first.
Can someone else collect it for me?
Possibly, with your written consent and a copy of your NID. Check the current rule before applying.
Do I need separate accounts for Honours and Masters?
Yes, each course needs its own account.
What if I lost my original certificate?
Follow the duplicate certificate process. A newspaper notice and a police GD are required.
Can the original certificate be downloaded online?
No. You apply online but collect the paper certificate from the Gazipur main campus.
